Join in the celebration of Tahoe City’s 150 year anniversary by participating in the “Stroll Thru Time” Museum walk. It all starts August 30th at 3:00pm at the gatekeepers Museum. Then, off to Watsons Cabin Museum with music at Heritage Plaza beginning at 4:00pm. Cap off the evening at the Grand Opening of the Museum of Sierra Ski History and 1960 Winter Olympics at 5:30pm with refreshments followed by extended happy hours at the Hacienda Del Lago and Jakes on the Lake. Jan Brisco has donated one of the rarest Olympic items to the museum – It is the head of one of the Disney Sculptures that was located in an old warehouse in Truckee.  The head has lost its white outer coating but is otherwise in great shape for something that was originally meant to last just beyond 2 weeks…. Walt Disney designed and created this rare Olympic flagpole plaque which was given personally to Lambert H. Spronck, Director of the Finance Division. Only 31 were made (one for each country) and only a few are known to exist –  Thank you Spronck Family for your generous donation!… Read more

We just received a beautiful 1960 winter Olympic cup from the Kimoto family, dedicated to June Kimoto by her daughter Susan. Thanks so much – it is now on display for everyone to see!… Read more

 We  believe the rings were used at the stadium for the McKinney Creek Nordic venue  near Tahoma, Cal. The original owner salvaged them after the Olympics. Ron  Parson, owner of Granlibakken Resort, arranged for the donation, obtained the  rings, and put them on loan to the museum. The rings appear to be in their  original condition without any visible repair or repainting.

Following the generous donation of the 1800 sq.ft. space in the Boatworks Mall by Channel Properties, the artifacts have been moved in and the Museum is open!  We are excited to tell the complete history of skiing in the Sierras and display the largest collection of 1960 Winter Olympic Artifacts.  The Museum is a partnership between local lake tahoe historian David C. Antonucci and part-time Tahoe residents Maryann and Stan Batiste.  Admission to the museum is free and it will be open for public events on request…. Read more
