Bill Clark and the Auburn Ski Club (ASC), our partners in the museum, added to their already fantastic ski display. Lake Tahoe Ski Club (LTSC) , founded in 1929, has played an intergral part of our regions ski history. To the present day, the club has had more National Champions and Olympians than any other ski club in America. In addition to placing more than 60 members onto the U.S. Alpine Ski Team, many of its members are in the prestigious U.S. Ski Hall of Fame. Join in the celebration of Tahoe City’s 150 year anniversary by participating in the “Stroll Thru Time” Museum walk. It all starts August 30th at 3:00pm at the gatekeepers Museum. Then, off to Watsons Cabin Museum with music at Heritage Plaza beginning at 4:00pm. Cap off the evening at the Grand Opening of the Museum of Sierra Ski History and 1960 Winter Olympics at 5:30pm with refreshments followed by extended happy hours at the Hacienda Del Lago and Jakes on the Lake. Jan Brisco has donated one of the rarest Olympic items to the museum – It is the head of one of the Disney Sculptures that was located in an old warehouse in Truckee. The head has lost its white outer coating but is otherwise in great shape for something that was originally meant to last just beyond 2 weeks…. Read more
Walt Disney designed and created this rare Olympic flagpole plaque which was given personally to Lambert H. Spronck, Director of the Finance Division. Only 31 were made (one for each country) and only a few are known to exist – Thank you Spronck Family for your generous donation!… Read more
