Ski History Videos

Come join us for a brief tour of Sierra Ski History as narrated by local Lake Tahoe historian David C. Antonucci.  Part one tells us the story of Ancient Ski History through Skiing in the Middle Ages and give us the story of the “father of modern skiing”.  The first part then follows the writing of Mark McLaughlin in his book “Longboards to the Olympics” describing early Sierra ski history through the development of the early ski area.

In the second part of the Series David C. Antonucci’s narration follows the early years of Squaw Valley up to the 1960 Winter Olympics and then tells the story of the second valley – Alpine Meadows.  The storys follow the book “tales of two valleys” by local Tahoe author, longtime tahoe resident and medal presenter at the 1960 Winter Olympics – Eddy Starr Ancinas.
